How is prescription tretinoin different from retinol?
Retinol has to be converted by the skin into retinoic acid. Tretinoin is retinoic acid itself, so it's a stronger, prescription-only option. It also tends to cause more dryness at first.
Will tretinoin make my skin peel?
Dryness, flaking, and sensitivity are common in the first few weeks. Starting a few nights a week, using a moisturizer, and wearing daily sunscreen usually help.
Is hydroquinone safe?
Hydroquinone is used in limited treatment courses rather than indefinitely. Your provider will tell you how long to use it and when to take a break.
How long before I see results?
Texture and breakouts are usually assessed over 6–12 weeks, and dark spots often take longer. Results vary from person to person.
Can I use these while pregnant or breastfeeding?
Several ingredients, including tretinoin, hydroquinone, and spironolactone, should not be used during pregnancy or breastfeeding. Tell your provider if you are pregnant, planning to be, or nursing.
What if my skin reacts?
Stop the product and message us. Reactions can often be managed by changing how often you apply it or switching formulas.

Tretinoin may cause dryness, peeling, redness, and sun sensitivity; use daily sunscreen. Hydroquinone is intended for limited treatment courses and may cause irritation; rarely, prolonged use can cause skin darkening (ochronosis). Topical steroids (hydrocortisone, triamcinolone) are intended for short-term use.
Tretinoin, hydroquinone, spironolactone, and hormone-containing formulas (estriol) should not be used during pregnancy or breastfeeding. Tell your provider about any pregnancy, plans to become pregnant, or nursing. Individual results vary.
